I started fishing aged 5, way back in 1979 so I've been fishing for over 40 years now on and off (I took a long break from fishing in my 20's while my family was young). I've fished for most coarse fish over the years, but aged 12 I started to think about specialising. Carp where first, back when there was still some mystery within Carp fishing. I fished for carp for a few years before I took a break from fishing and didn't start again until around the year 2000... when I started back up Carp figured in my summer fishing before moving onto Pike during the winter months.
But I soon got bored!
Around 2007, I'd had enough of the carp scene and decided to concentrate on predators, Pike first and foremost, but with a little Perch and Zander fishing thrown in. However Pike, Perch and Zander are really winter fish, so I needed to find something to fish for during the summer. I briefly considered fishing for Catfish, but it's an expensive game and didn't really float my boat. So I settled on Eels.
I've always been a club man, as a kid I was fascinated by N.A.S.A (National Association of Specialist Anglers) and the Carp Society, so it was natural for me to join the Pike Anglers' Club (PAC) and the Specialist Anglers Alliance (SAA) when I restarted fishing again, I later went on to sit on the committee of the National Anguilla Club (NAC) for 10 years and become the Regional Organiser for the Birmingham region of the PAC for a short while. I'm currently a member of the PAC, the ZAC (Zander Anglers Club), the Perchfishers and the Angling Trust.
This Blog is just the ramblings of a very average predator angler, I hope you enjoy it!
